Abstract

Assuming that cities growth is nowadays highly unsustainable, sub-Saharan Africa cities also face persistent shortage of food commodities. The lack of food is primarily dictated by ineffective food-system governance which is basically absent in almost all African cities. In fact, although some urban centres structured little Urban Food Policies meant to improve the local food-system capacity, especially in the international relations context of MUFPP, most cities do not possess any solid strategy in the field of food managing.

Among others, Addis Ababa in Ethiopia also experiences severe and systemic food lack but possesses no effective governance tool; for this reason, researchers carry out a field study aimed at determining when and how Addis Ababa means to implement an Urban Food Policy.
