Abstract

Questo paper indaga il ruolo critico delle università nei processi collaborativi di pianificazione per l’adattamento climatico, mettendo in discussione l’assunto che la co-produzione di conoscenza sia sempre positiva. Attraverso un confronto tra due casi empirici — l’analisi delle reti di collaborazione nell’area metropolitana di Boston e un intervento situato nella cittadina di Gloucester (MA) — si evidenzia come le università possano rafforzare assetti di potere esistenti oppure fungere da infrastrutture per coalizioni trasformative. Il concetto di “disancoramento” viene proposto per descrivere una postura universitaria capace di sospendere le alleanze istituzionali consolidate e sostenere pratiche pianificatorie radicate nei bisogni quotidiani. Il paper contribuisce al dibattito sull’engaged scholarship, mostrando come l’università possa agire non solo come produttrice di conoscenza volta a sostenere piani e progetti, ma come catalizzatore politico nella ridefinizione delle priorità dell’adattamento urbano.
