Criptovalute e sovranità monetaria: Libra come impulso allo sviluppo delle CBDC

La crisi finanziaria del 2007-2008 ha segnato una svolta cruciale per il sistema monetario globale, rivelando fragilità strutturali in un’architettura dominata dalla cooperazione tra banche centrali e istituzioni bancarie private. La conseguente perdita di fiducia ha stimolato una nuova era di innovazione monetaria, con l’emergere di sistemi decentralizzati basati su criptovalute come Bitcoin. Tuttavia, la sfida più diretta all’ordine esistente è stata lanciata con il progetto Libra, che mirava a creare una “valuta globale” sfruttando l’enorme base utenti di Facebook. L’intensificazione degli sforzi per sviluppare le central bank digital currencies (CBDC) rappresenta un tentativo strategico di preservare la sovranità monetaria e garantire la stabilità finanziaria. La recente rielezione del presidente Trump rimette in discussione il ruolo futuro dei mercati dei crypto-asset e delle CBDC.
