Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- Text abides by the maximum number of types allowed for selected section.
- Paper is uploaded in Word or RTF format using the journal article template.
- Manuscript is anonymous: name, affiliation and email address of each authors are put in the metadata and not in the text or in the file properties.

Reference list will appear at the end of the article. Please remember to include in the reference list only the works cited in the text, in alphabetical order by author family name or by title, in case authors are missing, according to The Harvard Referencing Style. For example:
- In-text citations
Two or more works cited at one point in the text
If two or more works by different authors or authoring bodies are cited at one point in the text, use a semi-colon to separate them: (Larson 2000; Malinowski 1999)
The authors should be listed in alphabetical order. - Book: single author

Letters
This section includes letters to the Editor as well as short reply to previously published papers in ORGANISMS.
Abstract length: Do not require abstracts.
Article length: 3000 words or fewer.
Maximum 10 References
Commentaries
These opinion pieces shall discusss a main point about a specific article, published in Organisms or elsewhere.
Abstract length: Do not require abstracts.
Article length: 3000 words or fewer.
Experimental Studies
Novel research studies with a complex story, often involving several techniques or approaches
Abstract length: 350 words or fewer (the abstract must not be structured into separate sections).
Article length: 8000 words or fewer.
History and Science
It deals with relevant aspects of the history of sciences.
Abstract length: 350 words or less
Article length: 20000 words or less
Perspectives and Hypotheses
It should present an untested original hypothesis backed up solely by a survey of previously published results rather than any new evidence.
Abstract length: 350 words or less
Article length: 6000 words or less
Reviews
It is an authoritative, balanced and scholarly survey of recent developments in a research field.
Abstract length: 350 words or less
Article length: 20000 words or less
Case Reports and Clinical Trials
It highlights unique presentations or aspects of disease processes that may expand the differential diagnosis and improve patient care.
Abstract length: 200 words or less
Article length: 6000 words or less
Ahead of Printing
Organisms publishes Ahead of Printing articles, that come online before they appear in a regular issue of the journal. Online First articles are copy edited, typeset and approved by the author before being published.
Each Online First article has a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI). This should be included in all citations.

Before publication, after the acceptance of the manuscript, authors need to sign a Publication Agreement with Organisms. Authors retain all rights to the original work without any restrictions and can archive pre-print, post-print, and publisher's versions.
