Abstract

Relational aggression is one form of violence that can occur in interpersonal relationships. Relational aggression has various construct variations and measurement tools. Recently, a new measurement tool for relational aggression called the Relational Aggression Scale (RAS) has been developed, which can be used to measure the construct of relational aggression directly, indirectly, proactively, and reactively. This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the RAS in an Indonesian sample. Participants in the study were 712 individuals aged 18-25 years (M = 20.987, SD = 1.552) residing in Surabaya. The evaluation of the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the RAS included content validity, item accuracy, factor structure, and convergent validity. The study found that not all items of the Indonesian version of the RAS have satisfactory item quality based on Aiken V calculation and infit and outfit estimates of the Rasch model. However, the Indonesian version of the RAS has a satisfactory factor structure and convergent validity. Although the Indonesian version of the RAS is not perfect in terms of item quality, the Indonesian version of the RAS can be used to measure relational aggression in the Indonesian sample.
