Abstract

In the literature, there is an evident growing attention to the problems connected to the production and legitimation of knowledge and to the possible consequent epistemic injustices.

Scientific journals are considered an important channel of legitimation and participation in the production of knowledge, in which they are fully involved, for multiple aspects and scales, generating linguistic, cultural, gender privileges…

The composition of the editorial boards of the main geographical journals (the first in the world for impact factor) and of the Italian journals (class A, according to the Italian agency Anvur) confirms the hegemonic importance of the English-speaking component in “international” journals and of the Italian component in Italian journals. The consequences and future challenges are discussed in this paper.
