This volume brings together several contributions that examine the cryptocurrency phenomenon in the broader context of the transformation of the monetary and financial system. To fully understand the phenomenon, an interdisciplinary approach is required that considers economic, legal and technological aspects, as well as the different types of cryptocurrencies, from first- and second-generation private ones to public ones issued by central banks.
