Abstract

This essay explores the historical relationship between Italian society and crime stories, characterized in the collective imagination by the anomalous superhuman figures of Diabolik and Eva Kant in the years following the economic boom. By insisting on the elements of masking and technology in the representation of serial crime, this contribution aims to underline the conflictual dimension of the metropolitan imagery and the need it has to reinvent its own serial devices, assuming the latters as an expression of the contemporary transformation of social identities production
