Abstract

The paper that is proposed here tries to observe and analyze a real transmedia narrative modus, of obvious serial imprinting and at the same time long-lasting. It is the narrative form typically American that begins at the seventeenth with the captivity tale and cames until today with the prison movie. The analysis will initially be addressed to demonstrate the specificity of the american mass production than in Europe. It will be taken to highlight the continuity of functions between seemingly different genres (captivity and prison) and then groped to provide an explanation. Finally, we will observe the contemporary situation, trying to bring out the possible functional transformation with regard to different media environments through which the narrative takes shape today.

Fabio Tarzia, Sapienza Università di Roma

Fabio tarzia è ricercatore in Sociologia dei Processi culturali e comunicativi presso il Dipartimento di Comunicazione e ricerca sociale della Facoltà di Scienze politiche, Sociologia e Comunicazione dell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”. Si occupa di sociologia della letteratura e di storia dell’editoria. Ha coltivato sia l’approfondimento teorico (I sociologi e lo spazio letterario. Un profilo del Novecento. Napoli: Liguori, 2003) sia la ricerca sul campo (L’editoria in Europa: storia, dinamica e scenari, in G. Ragone, L’editoria in Italia. Storia e scenari per il XXI secolo. Napoli: Liguori, 2005). Parte dei suoi studi sono dedicati alla televisione (Narrazione della storia e consumi mediali. Un’inchiesta sui giovani e la memoria. Napoli: Liguori, 2011 – curatela). Parallelamente ha sviluppato interessi di ricerca sul cinema e sull’immaginario moderno, in particolare americano (Mondi minacciati. La letteratura contro gli altri media.
